Frequently asked questions

What happens first?

Before your session, you will be asked to complete a short questionnaire, so that we can understand your aims. Then, together, we will review your current diet and lifestyle, and discuss ways to move forward.

Can you diagnose my condition?

Although I may suspect that you have a certain condition from your medical history and signs & symptoms, I am not able to make any official diagnosis. I can, however, contact your GP with your permission to make some suggestions about possible diagnostic tests, as well as make dietary recommendations and suggested lifestyle changes that are relevant for specific gastrointestinal conditions.

Can you prescribe medications?

I am unable to offer you a prescription of medication or nutrition/food supplements. I can, however, contact your GP with your permission to request specific medications that I clinically feel would be appropriate, as part of your ongoing dietary support.

Can you do me a meal plan for my specific dietary requirements?

A personalised meal plan can be provided to you at an additional cost, which can be discussed with you in your dietary appointment. For some conditions (such as Coeliac Disease) there may be a free standardised meal plan as part of your consultation, but any more specific meal-plan requirements can be discussed in your appointment (which may be subject to further charges).

When is the healthy Living dietitian open for bookings?

Please make contact to discuss a time that suits you.

How many appointments will I need?

This varies depending on the individual and the condition in question. For most conditions I would recommend at least 3 appointments, however some people may just want a one-off assessment of their diet, and that is fine.
